Choosing the right pump technology
Pump selection begins with the fluid. Viscosity, solids content, abrasiveness and shear sensitivity narrow the field quickly. Centrifugal pumps are simple and economical for thin liquids. Lobe and twin screw pumps handle viscous and delicate products gently. Progressing cavity pumps deliver steady, low-pulsation flow with a wide viscosity range. Diaphragm and peristaltic pumps are valued for dosing, dry running and products that must not touch moving seals.
